Stop wasting disk space on duplicate photos. LocalPhotos includes a robust duplicate detection engine that finds identical and visually similar photos. Removals go to the macOS Trash so they're recoverable — and we always recommend keeping a backup.

Perceptual Hashing

We don't just look at file names or exact byte matches. Our engine uses Vision perceptual hashing (pHash) to find photos that look visually identical, even if they have been resized, slightly cropped, or saved in a different format (like HEIC vs JPG).

Adjustable Similarity & Progress Tracking

You decide how strict detection is. A similarity threshold slider lets you dial matching from "near-identical only" up to looser visual matches that catch resizes, crops, and format conversions — so you control the balance between catching more duplicates and avoiding false matches. Re-run the scan with a new value any time. The scanner runs in the background with a real-time progress bar, keeping your Mac responsive.

Lightning Fast Mass Processing

LocalPhotos suggests keeping the photo with the highest resolution and metadata fidelity — but the final choice is always yours to review. Selected duplicates move to the macOS Trash (and can be brought back with Mass Restore), with processing optimized to keep the UI responsive. Performance varies with your hardware and library size.

During the free trial, duplicate removal is limited to 100 items so you can fully evaluate the feature. After purchase, duplicate removal is unlimited.
